    What is ESFP-A (Entertainer・Assertive)?

ESFP-A is a type with high extraversion (E), low openness (S), high agreeableness (F), low conscientiousness (P), and low neuroticism (A) in the Big Five.

    • High sociability and optimism
    • Present-oriented flexibility
    • Deep empathy for others
    • Confident self-expression
    • Adventurous spirit and vitality

They enjoy the current moment to the fullest and involve the people around them to create a positive atmosphere. They learn through practical experience and express themselves naturally.

In interpersonal relationships, they interact with warmth and compassion, and are sensitive to others’ emotions. They are open to change and new experiences, and have high stress tolerance, maintaining a positive attitude even in difficult situations. They have strong self-efficacy and believe in their own charm and abilities.

    Characteristics of ESFP-AL

Characteristic ①: “Confidence Like the Life of the Party”

Don’t your friends often tell you “you’re always so energetic”?
    ESFP-AL people are natural-born optimists.
Even in difficult situations, they have the power to believe “things will work out somehow.”
That confidence is contagious to those around them, brightening the atmosphere.

If you’re an ESFP-AL, you might have experiences like these:

    • Being able to quickly connect with people you meet for the first time
    • Being good at inviting others by saying “Let’s do ○○ together sometime!”
    • Not getting nervous even when in the spotlight

When speaking in public, you’re probably more excited than afraid.
That natural charm attracts many people.
Sometimes you might worry “Am I being overconfident?”
But that brightness is your greatest weapon.

Characteristic ②: “A Genius Entertainer Who Reads People’s Hearts”

Aren’t you good at noticing “That person seems down today”?
ESFP-AL is like an emotional thermometer.
They can instantly sense others’ feelings and encourage or entertain them at the perfect timing.
This is a special talent they were born with.

Your entertainer spirit might be displayed in situations like these:

    • Easing the heavy atmosphere of a meeting with subtle humor
    • Bringing up topics that a depressed friend likes
    • Naturally reaching out to someone who’s alone in a group

Sometimes you might think of yourself as “Am I being a clown?”
But actually, there’s deep compassion at the root of your actions.
A pure desire to make people smile drives you.
That warm heart is proof of being a true entertainer.

Characteristic ③: “An Honest Person Who Sticks to Principles Even While Having Fun”

Can you relate to the feeling “I love fun things, but I don’t want to lie”?
The wonderful thing about ESFP-AL is having high ethical standards.
Even while having fun at a party, they’ll always lend a helping hand if someone is in trouble.
That honesty is why they’re trusted by many people.

Your honesty might show up in everyday situations like these:

    • Being able to honestly say “I’m sorry” when you make a mistake
    • Never telling a friend’s secret to others
    • Being able to courageously point out wrongdoing when you find it

You might sometimes worry “Am I being too serious?”
But being able to balance fun and honesty is your charm.
People around you know they can laugh comfortably when they’re with you.
That trust is your most precious treasure.

    Strengths and Weaknesses of ESFP-AL

    Strengths of ESFP-AL

Have you experienced how just your presence can instantly brighten a place?
That’s the greatest strength of ESFP-AL.
With their natural optimism and charm that attracts people, they give hope to those around them.
When a team is stuck, your single word can change the atmosphere.

Wonderful strengths you might not have noticed about yourself:

    • Being able to stay positive with “let’s have fun first” in any environment
    • Being able to generate new ideas without being bound by preconceptions
    • Being able to sense true feelings from facial expressions and tone of voice

You, who value practice over theory, don’t panic even when problems arise.
With a “let’s try it for now” spirit, you find unexpected solutions.
Also, keeping promises and not lying is a major strength.
That’s why people trust you and bring their concerns to you.

    Weaknesses of ESFP-AL

Don’t you sometimes blame yourself thinking “I procrastinated again”?
What ESFP-AL people struggle with is making long-term plans.
They tend to think “as long as now is fun,” putting future preparations on the back burner.
But this isn’t a weakness—it’s the flip side of the virtue of “cherishing the present.”

Characteristics you might think of as “flaws”:

    • Unable to concentrate on detailed paperwork or monotonous tasks
    • Getting more discouraged than necessary when criticized
    • Getting bored with repetitive tasks and seeking new stimulation

You who are so sensitive and perceptive can also be easily influenced by other people’s opinions.
You may doubt your own judgment, thinking “if everyone says so.”
Sometimes you might want to escape from responsibility.
But these all stem from your kindness and flexibility.

ESFP-AL’s Romantic Relationship Tendencies and Improvement Strategies

    ESFP-AL’s Romantic Tendencies

In romance, don’t you idealize a relationship where “every day feels like a date”?
ESFP-AL’s romance is passionate and radiant, like a youth movie.
You seek to share new experiences with your partner and want a relationship where you can be excited together.
For you, romance is the ultimate entertainment that colors your life.

Your romantic style probably has these characteristics:

    • When thinking of date plans, you get excited imagining your partner’s happy face
    • You express affection richly and can naturally hug and hold hands
    • You sensitively notice even small changes in your partner and can reach out to them

Being honest and sincere, you cannot lie even in romance.
You convey your feelings straightforwardly and genuinely support your partner’s growth.
Sometimes you might worry “Am I being too passionate?”
But that pure affection is exactly what warms your partner’s heart.

When Romance Becomes Problematic and Improvement Strategies

Don’t you sometimes worry “Is it okay to continue this relationship as it is?”
ESFP-AL people tend to feel unsatisfied when romance becomes stable.
Being accustomed to stimulating daily life, you might find peaceful times boring.
But this might be a sign that you want to “deepen your love even more.”

Points that tend to cause romantic worries:

    • When criticized by your partner, you feel “unloved” and become depressed
    • When future talk comes up, you can’t imagine it concretely and feel confused
    • When you feel stuck in routine, your attention turns to other people

Three tips for overcoming these challenges:

    • Find freshness in daily life by asking “What small discoveries might there be today?”
    • When you become emotional, take a deep breath and try to consider your partner’s position
    • Break down future dreams into small steps and walk through them together with your partner

It’s important to nurture your rich affection over time.
Building deep bonds rather than seeking temporary stimulation leads to true happiness.

ESFP-AL’s Friendship Tendencies and Improvement Strategies

    Friendship Tendencies

Don’t you notice that people always gather around you?
ESFP-AL is an “energizing presence” for friends.
You’re open to new encounters and can quickly connect with people you meet for the first time.
When you’re there, the entire group naturally becomes bright and cheerful.

    Why friends adore you:

    • When in trouble, you’re the first to ask “Are you okay?”
    • When with you, people naturally find themselves smiling
    • You make fun suggestions like “Why don’t we try this next time?”

You’re truly skilled at sensing your friends’ feelings.
Even without words, you can tell from expressions and atmosphere that “something happened.”
And you can encourage or quietly stay close in a way that suits each person.
Everyone truly trusts you for being sincere and genuine.

When Friendships Become Problematic and Improvement Strategies

Do you ever feel “I have many friends, but do we really understand each other?”
ESFP-AL may be good at making friends but sometimes struggle with building deep relationships.
While you can share fun times, you might have few relationships where you can discuss each other’s worries.
This is because you care too much about others.

    Common problems in friendships:

    • When exciting plans come up, you forget prior commitments and break promises
    • Thinking “let’s all have fun together,” you end up troubling introverted friends
    • When your emotions run high, you can’t listen to others until the end

Improvement strategies for nurturing deeper friendships:

    • Cherish one-on-one time and adapt to the other person’s pace
    • Immediately write down promises in a planner or smartphone and develop the habit of keeping them reliably
    • Consciously think “I’ll focus on listening today” and lend an ear to your friend’s stories

Your warm heart will be conveyed more deeply with just a slight change in awareness.
You’ll be able to build true trust relationships, not just superficial enjoyment.

ESFP-AL Parenting Tendencies and Improvement Strategies

    Parenting Tendencies

When you’re with children, don’t you find yourself returning to a childlike state?
ESFP-AL parenting is like having a daily adventure that’s full of fun.
Running around together at the park, trying new ideas with crafts.
You give your full support to your child’s “I want to try!” feelings.

    Characteristics of your parenting style:

    • Research together and answer children’s “why?” questions in an enjoyable way
    • Naturally teach the importance of learning through play
    • Never miss even small signs of growth and genuinely celebrate and praise them

Understanding children’s feelings is also your specialty.
When they’re crying, you hug them; when they’re happy, you jump for joy together.
Also, being honest and sincere, you don’t lie to children.
You can explain “why something isn’t okay” in words that children can understand.

When Parenting Becomes Problematic and Improvement Strategies

Do you ever blame yourself thinking “I need to discipline more properly”?
ESFP-AL is good at having fun with children but struggles with being strict.
You might think “just for today” and make rules ambiguous.
But that’s also a manifestation of your kindness.

Points that tend to cause parenting concerns:

    • When children cry, you tend to give in to their demands
    • Unable to give concrete advice about future career paths
    • Becoming emotional and unable to respond consistently

    Tips for balanced parenting:

    • Make family rules enjoyable to follow
    • Occasionally think about “what kind of adult do I want this child to become in 10 years?”
    • When irritated, take a breath and think “what is this child feeling?”

Your deep affection and fun nature are the greatest treasures for your child.
By adding a bit of planning to that, you’ll be able to better support their growth.

ESFP-AL Career Tendencies and Improvement Strategies

    Career Tendencies

Don’t you feel that “jobs involving people are the most rewarding”?
For ESFP-AL, work isn’t just tasks but connections with people.
Customer smiles and cooperation with colleagues become your greatest motivation.
Rather than sitting quietly at a desk working, you’re suited for jobs that progress through conversation with people.

Professional fields where you’re likely to shine:

    • Event planner creating customers’ special days
    • Sales staff who vividly convey product appeal
    • Entertainment industry that entertains audiences

Within teams, you’ll be valued as a mood maker.
When meetings become heavy, your single comment lightens the atmosphere.
You’re also good at proposing new ideas using your creativity.
Your honest and sincere personality should earn deep trust from both superiors and subordinates.

When Career Becomes Problematic and Improvement Strategies

“Have you ever been troubled by not being able to answer when asked about your future career plans?”
ESFP-AL types, who value the “present” so much, tend to have vague visions of 5 or 10 years from now.
You may have had the bewildering experience of being asked “What are your future goals?” in an interview.
But this doesn’t mean you lack planning ability—it means you have flexibility.

Challenges you’re likely to face in your career:

    • Getting bored with repetitive work and considering changing jobs
    • Feeling harsh criticism from your boss as personal attacks
    • Finding it painful to follow set rules and procedures

    Practical advice for career advancement:

    • Start with short-term goals like “I’ll master this skill within a year”
    • Approach even your weak areas by thinking of them as “new games” to enjoy
    • Develop the habit of accepting criticism as “hints for growth”

Your personality and talents are definitely helping someone.
By gradually building up your skills, you’ll be able to create your ideal career.

ESFP-AL Work Tendencies and Improvement Strategies

    Work Tendencies

Isn’t your ideal workplace one where you can hear laughter?
ESFP-AL types perform best in vibrant environments.
You show your best performance when working while communicating with colleagues.
You’re definitely better at collaborating with a team than working alone in silence.

    Your strengths in the workplace:

    • Having a “let’s just try it” spirit that doesn’t fear new challenges
    • Being able to make unique and feasible proposals in idea meetings
    • Naturally being able to boost the motivation of the entire team

In relationships with customers and business partners, your sincerity builds trust.
You can sense others’ feelings and provide appropriate suggestions and support.
You can also respond flexibly to sudden changes and unexpected troubles.
You’ll become someone people turn to, thinking “Let’s consult with ○○ when we’re in trouble.”

When Work Becomes Problematic and Improvement Strategies

Do you ever feel that “detailed document creation and number checking are difficult”?
While ESFP-AL types are good at drawing big visions, they struggle with paying attention to details.
They tend to overlook small mistakes in documents and be sloppy with data organization.
But this doesn’t mean you lack attention—it’s just that your interests are directed differently.

Situations where you tend to struggle at work:

    • When deadlines approach, thinking “there’s still time” and ending up in a last-minute rush
    • Having your interest shift to something else in the middle of long-term projects
    • Losing motivation when receiving harsh feedback

    Tips for working more efficiently:

    • Break down large tasks by deciding “I’ll get this far today”
    • Use reminder apps to avoid missing important deadlines
    • Shift your thinking to view “criticism as a gift that helps you grow”

Your creativity and humanity are valuable assets to the workplace.
By finding teammates who can support your weak areas, you’ll be able to shine even brighter.

    HAXACOの結果と、16personalities(通称MBTI診断)やMBTI(本家)と結果が変わる

    4. MBTI(本家)や16personalities(通称MBTI診断)は質問設計の段階でどの程度統計的な処理をしているか論文が見当たらないため不明確です。

    16personalities(通称MBTI診断)の概要

    16personalities(16タイプ性格診断)は、MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)とビッグファイブをベースにして作られています。

    MBTI(本家)の概要

この相関を示した代表的な研究に、「The relationship between the revised NEO-Personality Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator」という論文があります。
