Present a list of superficial hard skills like education, work history, and qualifications, as well as soft skills that couldn’t be identified in short interviews, along with supporting research papers.

02 Build well-balanced teams by understanding the values that go beyond individual personality traits

The Sunblaze Test references research papers on team diversity and individual compatibility, enabling scientifically evidence-based decisions.

Team
Harassment

03 Identify potential harassers during recruitment and enable risk management by having the individual and their colleagues understand these tendencies

Unlike the Big Five used by other companies, the Sunblaze Test is based on HEXACO (described later), where research has been advancing in recent years, making it possible to identify dark traits.

All test results include peer-reviewed papers

  • Other companies’ personality tests and aptitude tests are independently developed and therefore lack scientific evidence. Having numerical data does not make them objective.
  • Sunblaze Test has been developed through academic processes, with correlation analysis with other psychological scales and analysis of validity and reliability.
  • Additionally, peer-reviewed papers are attached regarding various soft skills that are likely to correlate with test results. While we have not conducted direct correlation analysis with our Sunblaze Test, similar analyses have been performed, making them sufficiently useful as reference.
  • When evaluating and judging an individual, having scientific evidence is extremely important for accountability.

Personality and Aptitude Test Based on HEXACO

  • In personality psychology, a psychological scale called HEXACO has been gaining attention since the 2000s. While the Big Five, which other companies reference for independent development, expresses personality with 5 factors, HEXACO uses 6 factors, enabling more detailed analysis. Details here.
  • In particular, Honesty-Humility, one of HEXACO’s 6 factors, is related to ethics, and low levels can determine the Dark Triad (narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy). Details here.
  • The Dark Triad has been actively researched in recent years, and it has been found to be related to not only harassment and workplace misconduct, but also bullying, academic dishonesty, criminal behavior, sexual harassment, and other unethical behaviors. International comparisons have also shown that Japanese people have high levels of Machiavellianism and psychopathy.

User Testimonials

NPO Musubite Representative Director Kotaro Fukuoka

“I use the diagnostic results as a reference when deciding on general stances for assigning work and when making decisions about team composition. Basically, I prioritize autonomy and want everyone to somehow become self-sufficient, but since not everyone is like that, I consider whether to delegate with discretionary power or to take a more supportive communication approach.”

“For example, people with high empathy and emotionality tend to have fluctuating performance levels depending on their immediate situation and private circumstances, so I maintain high communication frequency with such people, along with messages that show I care about them and am supportive. People with this tendency are considerate of others and might think ‘I couldn’t ask because the boss is busy,’ so I make a conscious effort to build trust relationships by reaching out to them proactively.”

“Also, when forming teams, while it depends on their abilities of course, I worry that if people with too high openness are grouped together, meticulous and detailed preparation might be neglected. Conversely, in the opposite case, they might become stuck in contemplation without taking action at all. So I sometimes team up people with contrasting tendencies. In such cases, I make it a point to clearly communicate each person’s strengths and weaknesses from my own mouth, so they can start moving forward with a sense of understanding.”

FAQ

  • How long does the Sunblaze Test take?
    • 24 questions take 2-3 minutes, 60 questions take 5-6 minutes, and 100 questions take 10 minutes.
  • Is it possible to try taking the Sunblaze Test as a trial?
    • Yes, we have prepared a response screen for individuals as well. The 24-question version requires no login (here), while the 60-question version requires account creation (here). The most accurate 100-question version is available only to paid members.
  • What is the difference between the individual version (HEXACO-JP) and the Sunblaze Test (for corporations)?
    • The corporate version allows you to “view other people’s responses in a CSV list.”
      • When using our system, you need to enter an email address.
      • If it is difficult to use our system due to personal information concerns, we can also provide responses in Excel files for a separate quote.
    • The paid version of HEXACO-JP for individuals allows you to learn about an even wider range of items (health, romance, etc.) than the Sunblaze Test.
  • Do you offer volume discounts?
    • We currently do not offer volume discounts because there are no initial costs, and we offer trial special pricing that is already very affordable.
  • Do other companies’ aptitude tests and personality tests lack scientific basis?
    • Scientific basis here refers to whether the personality tests (psychological scales) used have undergone correlation analysis with psychological scales in existing peer-reviewed papers, validity and reliability analysis of question items, or correlation analysis between test results and actual behavior.
    • For example, even if results evaluate someone as work-focused or private life-focused, it cannot be trusted without evidence of what constitutes work-focused or private life-focused.
  • How does the Sunblaze Test handle false responses?
    • If an account is created, the number of responses and response time are measured, so the possibility of countermeasures can be excluded.
    • Each question is not designed to make the HEXACO 6 factors easy to predict, and statistical processing reveals the consistency of responses.
    • While there are pros and cons to soft skills, please tell subjects that this is merely “understanding individuality.”
  • Why do the results of the Sunblaze Test differ from MBTI/16personalities results?
    • Since personality is influenced by genetics and environment, responses change when the environment changes (e.g., emotionality changes when tired, etc.). For more details on genetics, see here.
    • Personality changes as you age and experience life events. There are variations in responses depending on age. For details, see here.
    • Type classification is based on whether each value is 3 or above, or below 3. If the value is close to 3, results can easily change depending on how questions are asked or the environment at the time. Please look at the numerical values rather than the types.
    • The extent of statistical processing in question design for MBTI (original) and 16personalities (commonly called MBTI diagnosis) is unclear as no relevant papers can be found. On the other hand, such papers for Big Five and HEXACO can be easily found, and this HEXACO-JP diagnosis has gone through an academic development process and is published as a paper.
    • While there are relatively few research papers comparing MBTI and 16personalities with everyday behaviors (academic performance, income, etc.) or brain/genetic factors, numerous studies exist for Big Five and HEXACO.
    • HEXACO is fundamentally a variation of Big Five elements, so they are similar but different. HEXACO’s Honesty-Humility is extracted from Big Five’s Agreeableness and Neuroticism. For details, see here.
  • Are test results absolutely correct?
    • Personality is influenced by both genetics and environment. Due to genetic influence, there is a certain range of variation, but depending on the environment, results can fluctuate to some extent.
    • Also, while Big Five and HEXACO research papers conduct correlation analyses with academic performance, income, etc., the correlation coefficients are not as large as in natural science experiments. Correlation coefficients range from minimum -1 to maximum 1, but most are around -0.4 to 0.4. Of course, there are higher ones too. They are not 0.8 or 0.9, so they are relatively low in comparison.
    • However, since various studies do exist, please think of it as “more than fortune-telling, less than natural science.” This is not a 100% denial of psychology or fortune-telling.
